Explosion Proof/Intrinsically Safe Walkie Talkie

E-Com's Smart-Ex & Ex-Handy have been certified to work with Smart Walkie App.

Safety (employees, assets and environments) is the prime concern when any electronic device is carried into environments with potentially explosive atmospheres.

Since even Zone 2 equipment is “only required to be safe under normal operating conditions”, any fault could potentially cause an explosion in the presence of an explosive atmosphere. Even turning a device “off” does not make it safe.

Essentially, only equipment certied for use in Zone 1 / Division 1 areas employ additional safety circuits or factors of safety in the event of potential failure and pass extreme impact anddrop tests, climate tests, ageing tests.

Intrinsic safety (IS) is a protection technique for safe operation of electrical equipment in hazardous areas by limiting the energy available for ignition. Intrinsically safe devices are crafted to provide explosive protection to the electric circuits of a device.

Areas with dangerous concentrations of flammable gases or dust are found in applications such as petrochemical refineries and mines. These areas required special electronic devices that have been IS or Ex rated for operation.

In signal and control circuits that can operate with low currents and voltages, the intrinsic safety approach simplifies circuits and reduces installation cost over other protection methods.

Why do you need intrinsically safe walkie talkie?

Certain job-sites, with dangerous concentrations of flammable gases or dust are prone to hazards of combustion. Industries like petrochemical refineries and mines are susceptible to such risks. These areas required special electronic devices that have been IS or Ex rated for operation.
